There are few things in this world that can spook a warden like her. Talking darkspawn, Archdemons, broodmothers. She's seen it all. With a hellfire temper that can rival anyone's, she isn't someone that you should doublecross.Eiric takes pride that she served the Imperium. Sure, it's blasphemy in the south to consider that but she didn't exactly fit into that southern mold.Although an Assassin and Warden by trade, She has a knack for diplomacy and relations.Eiric can be indifferent to those that she deems 'lesser' than her. Namely men who try and belittle her and say cruel words to her. She can be arrogant and confident in her actions to those around her.Eiric worships the old gods. Knowing full well that their souls are still around. Her downfalls could be her pride, it can swell to depths that many haven't seen. She is also prone to being impulsive and stubborn.Underneath that hard exterior, is a woman who care for the people of Ferelden. She yearns to go back home to right her wrongs that happened years ago.
9:30-9:31 Dragon
Eiric was a daughter of the Couslands. She was the youngest out of two children; having an older brother. Her upbringing was a luxury and when she became of age, had many Ferelden suitors that she rejected. One such suitor was Thomas Howe, the two were apparently supposed to be married but the blight hit just before their wedding date.Just when she turned 18 the blight hit Ferelden. Her parents were killed by Arl Rendon Howe and her home was soon taken over by his forces. Duncan saved her, bringing her to Ostagar and making her one of his wardens.During the events of the Blight, she did her best to unite everyone. Even dealing with crowning a dwarven king, a crazed Paragon who wanted nothing but treasure and fame, A possessed Child trying to save his poisoned father; and brokering peace between the Dalish and Werewolves. Her toughest challenge was figuring out what to do about the next ruler of Ferelden.Ultimately she chose Alistair to become king, it was partially driven by her hatered for Loghain and his family... and she beleived that Alistair was the best chance to gain some form of Stability for the nation. In the end, the rallied armies moved onto Denerim. It was at Fort Drakon that she faced the Archdemon and slayed the beast. She allowed herself to romance one of her companions, Alistair. Even if she didn't become queen or harden him; She did what she thought was best, Ultimately, She should have died atop of Fort Drakkon but was none the wiser when she survived the ordeal. It was only until after that she figured out what truly happened. She had been with child; and that child had the old god's soul within. She miscarried a week after the end of the Blight.
April - October 9:31 Dragon
After the Blight, Eiric didn't stay in Denerim, instead she went Vigil's acted as Warden Commander of Ferelden. She was a compassionate and kind leader to the Warden's under her care. She relyed heavily on Nathaniel Howe and Anders to keep her sane while she continued to run the Arling. She tried her best to ally with a darkspawn called the Architect but ultimately, that would prove to be a mistake.During the events of Amaranthine and the siege on the city that she was sworn to protect, Eiric vowed to never be caught off guard again. Not when she tried to save the city and her keep.As a result of her Failure, only six months after the Blight. Eiric vanished from Vigil's keep and abandoned her post as Ferelden's Warden Commander.
October-December 9:31 Dragon
No one knew where she went, not even her old Companions. Eiric had cut all ties to the south, discarding her warden armor buy buring it in Vigils keep, next to Varell's grave. When she left the keep, She cut her raven hair short and bought a ticket to cross the waking sea. She landed in Kirkwall with all the refugee's that were still pouring into the city to escape the remaining darkspawn that still occasionally plagued the Ferelden countryside. For a few months she worked around Kirkwall as a merc for hire, going under a false name to protect herself from being detected only to have it fail. The Architect had alerted Slavers to her general location.Come early December, She was on a simple job; to guard a traveling merchant's goods. It all went haywire when the slavers ambushed the convoy, capturing her and a few others. They brought her to her new home- one that would stay with her for years.
9:32- May of 9:36 Dragon
Eiric was sent to the vyrantium slave markets, chained and bound to the ground. Bare and displayed by her seller; He flaunted her war scars as something that could be erased with simple magic. If only that were so easy. He did what he wanted with her, most of the time it was not kind and rarely did he look after her if anything happened. He tried molding her into the perfect, submissive slave… It backfired. On one night in 4:33, she managed to escape her bindings. She killed her owner with his own dagger, driving the blade into his throat. She managed to dress herself and run out into the night.Eiric managed to elude slavers for a few years until the Archon cornered her in the city of Minrathous in 4:36. He had kept tabs on her throughout the years after her escape, he could see the broken woman but also the fire inside of her. He never asked about what happened or how a broken Ferelden woman came to end up in the north. He knew something was up with her backstory when she became tight lipped when he practically demanded her to tell him who she was. That he didn’t have to call her ‘slave’ every day or night. She infuriated him yet kept him coming back to her.
May 9:36 - August 9:40 Dragon
The Archon took her under his wing. Rebuilding her confidence in herself, in the people around her. He helped her return to the person that she once was, confident in her ability to lead, to trust the men under her command.Although he is stern with her, He does listen on occasion, there’s something about her that makes him pause and watch. There was a tone of voice that commanded a room, that made people stop and look at her with attention. He didn’t see Eiric as a person but more of a tool. A weapon he could exploit only for that notion to backfire when she put her foot down on what he had suggested. Kill multiple magisters at once in order to solidify his claim. He was shocked when she said no, never once while in his care did, she say no.Eiric wasn’t a mass murderer, she made her opinion known especially when he just wanted them gone with no remorse. She would only kill when needed and nothing more. She infuriated yet intrigued the Archon, acting so bold to the very man who was single handedly feeding her. What he never knew during the summer months of 9:36 Dragon was that she was silently rebuilding the Gray Wardens in Minrathous. The archon started to notice an uptick of people in black armor with the warden sigil around the city, causing him to instantly become suspicious. He sent out feelers, wondering where they were coming from only to lead to dead ends. Then he started to look in on his slaves, Eiric once again drawing his gaze and suspicion. He had her trailed one night, off to a small keep just a few miles outside the city. He didn’t trust the messenger, so he followed them as well, only to come face to face with multiple swords and staff pointed at his person. The Wardens brought him (Albeit under strong guard) to their leader, the very woman that he had built up. Instead of being dressed in simple clothing, she was wearing a green dress with an emerald clasped just above her shoulder. She was standing next to an Elf, his face and ears adorned with scars. He’s an escaped slave that was well known in the Minrathous Underground. Soren Denarus.Eiric met Radonis’ furious gaze with a knowing smile, dismissing the wardens surrounding him and the slave at her side. He had no power here and She knew it. She offered him a deal, For her life; he would allow her to work on rebuilding the Gray Wardens of Tevinter. Even offering a few as personal guards. She knew that he could easily kill her, only hoping that the idea of using the order as personal guards would entice him enough to keep the head on her shoulders. The Archon ultimately agrees, and soon her Wardens are posted at his palace’s gates along with her at his side. She becomes an immovable part of him, often quietly offering two cents on certain topics.Come August of 9:37, after years of getting to know one another, Eiric lets him in. She tells him her true name, her origin but also elaborates on the Fifth Blight. How she survived due to sheer will and well- at the expense of a fledgling life.Underneath that hardened exterior that he; himself helped her create. Was a woman who yearned to just belong somewhere, to be someone. She wasn’t after power or fame, only to ensure that Thedas survived, that the Wardens survived their grisly fate.He could see that she yearned to go home, to Ferelden. To him, she was like a caged bird on display. Something so beautiful shouldn't be cooped up between four walls. Her beauty was unmated to those around her but there was something else. For a month, He taught her to harness the small inkling of magic that he could sense within her. She was no mage but everyone can do magic to some degree. He let her into the archives that held family names, curious as to what she would do.It was there that she found her name written in an obscure family tree. One that was thought to have died out twenty years ago. They were direct descendants to Archon Thalsian, the first Archon and First Blood mage.Eiric allowed Radonis to guide her with the basics of blood magic shortly thereafter. She can't conjure any demons, but she can use her tainted blood to draw the attention of the blighted creatures. Not only did she learn about her Tevinter blood that ran through her body, it was there that she found out that Cousland family was not hers by blood but by adoption. It made sense since she had looked nothing like her parents let alone her brother.
September 9:40 - November 9:40 Dragon
Radonis kept her at his side for a few more months until she asked for her release. She was ready to return to the South, to pick up the pieces that were left behind. Come November of 9:40, he released her from his care, stating that she is free and able to leave if she wanted to.That is exactly what she did. She left Minrathous in mid November and headed south, arriving in Highever in late December during a snowstorm.
January 9:40- Inquisition
As of January of 9:40, Eiric has found a little homestead in the rolling hills of Highever. Taking solace there and traveling when she can. She hears Corypheus' call and it annoys her, even more so when he is close. She's focused her efforts on survival and enduring the brutal life of a farmer and vigilant watcher for any darkspawn in the countryside. Often times doing patrols of area's known to have darkspawn (Storm coast and Crestwood.)She's pulled at her old contacts and has her old armor now, the black warden armor is now shined up with new leathers. A black and royal blue cloak adorns her shoulders, the collar being lined in silver furs with the Warden's sigil embroidered on the back. She has a new mount, a black Amaranthine Charger who's tack carries the Warden Griffin's on the breastplate and headstall. She's kept a close eye on the inquisition but has stayed her distance in favor of not being wrapped up in it. This wasn't her fight so to speak, even if she could have provided insight on 'spawn movements. She wants nothing to do with the Inquisition.
